Tim urban procrastination
1. according to Tim urban the three characters that control your decision making are the; monkey, the captain (yourself), and the panic monster
2. the role of the monkey is to have fun and playtime when you're supposed to be working or studying, the role of the captain is to be doing work and ignoring playing when your not supposed to. the role of the panic monster is when the monkey gets afraid and now allows the captain to take control. this especially takes place when a deadline during an assignment or project gets close at school or work
3. the captain should be in charge of your actions, even though working is not pleasant, thinking of the bigger picture for our future society and world is more important.
4. the zone that the monkey tends to live in is called the, ''dark playground''
5. the problem with this zone is that your playing even though you don't feel good about it having guild and shame on your mind while playing
6. the guardian angel of the procrastinator is called the panic monster.
7. the guardian angel helps the procrastinator whenever there is a deadline close. the panic monster alerts the rational decision maker (captain) to start working since the assignment is close to being due
8. the two types of procrastination are the people who play instead of working, and the people who wait until last minute to do it.
9.the types of things that distract me are; video games, text messages, and my cellphone
10. we can let the monkey run wild for a little bit every now and then but its important to have the rational decision maker take over more control than the monkey.
