Education is the Key to success!

The boss at Growling Productions has come to you and talked with you about furthering your education.  He made a compelling argument that with specialized training or a degree you'll be able to apply for new positions in the company.  That means more money and further opportunities.

You've decided to take his advice and go to school.  You've chosen a school.  It has a great reputation, has competitive tuition, and it offers a "work/study" program.  They will allow you to work at Growling Productions and pay tuition using the money you earn.  To help offset the cost of tuition they offer a scholarship that you can spend as you see fit.  The money for the scholarship is broken into three components.  You'll find the descriptions and scholarship amounts below.  Follow the directions carefully, the scholarship committee is very picky!  

Letter of application $5,000
The first component is a letter of application.  Address the letter to "The Scholarship Committee".  This letter should be no longer than 500 words and should talk about your accomplishments during your high school career.  write like you have accomplished it.  Use your imagination.  Your future self is interesting and has accomplished a great deal.  Make sure your supervisor proofreads your letter before you submit it to your blog.

(For this scenario, write as the person you will be by the time you graduate.  For example, you may not have graduated with a 4.0 GPA yet but it's something you want to do so write it in.)

Video Intro $10,000
The second component is a video introduction.  You need to create a video that is no more than 1:30  in length.

• Frame your shot from the waist up.  
• Make sure your background looks professional.  
• Boys should wear a button up shirt and tie.  
• Girls should wear a nice blouse or jacket.  
• Look professional and ready for success.  Some examples are below.

Your video intro should include a brief introduction (make sure and say your name).  Talk about your accomplishments as your future self.  Thank the selection committee for considering your application.  You may read your application content but it is better to have the notes off screen or behind the camera.  Just remember to smile and make eye contact.  Submit your final product on Youtube and on your blog.

Reference Signatures and Statement $10,000
The third component is references.  You need to find 3 people that will vouch for your ability to succeed and your dedication to be an outstanding student.  Use the following document to gather the signatures and post the document on your blog.   Print the image below and use it to gather your signatures.
