1ST THINGS FIRST: Skills Mastery
The first 6 grades in the gradebook are "Mastery" grades or skills you should be able to demonstrate before completing the semester. You can show mastery in these assignments at any time to get a full 10 points. The grading scale is below.
10-9: Mastery
8-6: Understanding
5: Guided - you still need someone to show you periodically
1-4: Attempting - You tried it but it's still confusing or hard to complete without help.
You can make multiple attempts at showing mastery of the different skills that are listed in the grade book.
INDEPENDENT STUDY OPPORTUNITY
For the next few weeks you will have an opportunity to work independently on assignments of your choosing. The requirements are listed below that will help you choose assignments that will challenge you as well as teach you new skills.
Requirement 1:
The project must be a sufficient time investment. A five minute tutorial that teaches one skill is probably not going to be worth 50 points. Projects will be approved by Mr. Larsen if they are going to take longer than the specific timeframe. Projects should be possible to complete in class and should not require you to spend an excessive amount of time to complete. (no feature films)
NOTE: Wasted time in class will count against you.
Requirement 2:
Projects must involve skill development that challenge you. Challenge yourself, learn new skills. You should be able to demonstrate an improved understanding of the material you work on in your project and the ability to do the work independently.
POSSIBLE OPTIONS
- Film Riot Tutorials
- Video Copilot Tutorials
- YouTube Tutorials.
- Short Films
- Commercials or PSAs for schools groups
- Other projects you approve through Mr. Larsen
