Assignment For November 10, 2011

Over the past few days you have listened to online talks, classroom lectures, and participated in class discussion on the subject of taking an interest in your education.

Ken Robinson's talk explained the way that you have been trained in our current educational system.

My lectures have covered a variety of subjects but the main idea is that you have untapped potential if you will become an active participant in your education.  Yes, that includes all of you.

This assignment follows the same theme.

Your assignment
To receive credit for this assignment you must complete the following:

1.  On your blog, write a letter to your teachers.  You can have a specific teacher in mind or you can choose to write it to all of your teachers.
The letter must contain your feelings about how you respond to teaching.  Some of the main ideas might be: How you feel about tests.  How you deal with homework.  What is your life like outside of school and how does it affect your learning.  What kind of things do you like doing in class.  What gets you excited about learning and what makes you fall asleep.  What are some of the fun things you've done in the past that have made you remember the material you were supposed to learn.  Etc....

Remember:  This is you writing to a professional audience that is interested in what you have to say.  Be respectful but speak your mind.  This is a letter meant to give a teacher insight into you as a person.  Assume that the teachers have your best interest in mind.  Spell check your work and use correct grammar (capitals and periods in the right place).

2.  Prepare a word document that has your blog address on it.  Copy that blog address enough times on your word document that you can cut or tear the paper into sections and give one to each of your teachers.  It should look like this:

YourAddress.blogspot.com

YourAddress.blogspot.com

YourAddress.blogspot.com

ETC.

3.  Deliver one slip of paper with your blog address on it to each of your teachers and let them know you wrote them a letter as a part of an assignment in my class.  They will read it.

Good Luck.
